Radio Frequency
Radiofrequency is the number of oscillations (or waves) per second of the electric and magnetic fields within the radio waves portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. It is the lowest of the electromagnetic radiation frequencies within the spectrum, which itself spans from radio waves, microwaves, infrared, optical (visible light), ultraviolet, x-rays, to gamma rays. Radiofrequency is delivered by alternating current (AC) or voltage through an antenna, an electrode, or a probe.
The use of Radiofrequency (RF) energy in medicine is well documented. Until recently, the use of Radiofrequency was limited to performing surgical procedures such as oral, ophthalmic, plastic, and gynecological surgery. Further technological advances in the use of Radiofrequency gained acceptance in the practice of dermatology, cosmetology, cardiology, neurosurgery, and hepatology procedures with increased popularity among practitioners. Low frequency alternating currents are also being used with great success in physiotherapy for their ability to induce contractions to enhance muscles mass, muscle strength, and greatly improve blood circulation. Radiofrequency energy application in surgery traditionally utilizes a wave of electrons to cause frictional heating of target tissues to incise, excise, ablate or coagulate tissues. However with recent developments in cryogenics and cooling material technology, non-ablative RF energy is now becoming a welcomed addition and the alternative method of choice for clients and practiononers alike preferable to invasive skin tightening surgical procedures. With recent advances in cryogenics it is now possible to deliver controlled RF energy to the deep dermis and sub-dermal layers of the skin while protecting the epidermis and the outer skin surface layer from any damage by generating a biochemical reaction in deeper tissues resulting in immediate collagen contraction with subsequent collagen production effectively remodeling the face and targeted area(s) of the body safely and painlessly.
Monopolar Radiofrequency
Monopolar RF delivery of radiofrequency for cosmetic rejuvenation is based on applying a single electrode to the treated area whereas the opposing electrode is relatively far removed allowing the current to penetrate deeper into the skin. As a result the tissue in the treated area is heated intensely at a depth of about 20 mm increasing both the potential benefits and risks associated with the use of Monopolar Radio Frequency. Recent versions of Monopolar Radiofrequency offer an improved risk factor for treating facial sag, skin laxity, and cellulite. Typically Monopolar RF treatments produce redness in the treated area and in extreme cases the appearance of blisters may occur following treatment for a period of one day to one week depending on the skin quality and overall health of the client. Technological advances in this field led to the introduction of the more advanced Bipolar Radio Frequency. Most recently however, the introduction of the revolutionary Tripolar Radio Frequency allows practitioners access to a safer and more effective device for skin tightening and body contouring without the inconvenience of downtime for the client.
Bipolar Radiofrequency
Bipolar radiofrequency is used primarily for skin tightening and sag reduction on the face, neck, and other selected areas on the body. Bipolar delivery of radiofrequency for cosmetic rejuvenation is based primarily on applying a two closely positioned electrodes to the treated area. The electric current that goes between the electrodes is relatively small and shallow. The tissue in the treated area is heated at a depth of 4mm with substantially less intensity than with a Monopolar RF device (depth of 20mm). Bipolar RF procedures tend to be safer and gentler than treatments using Monopolar RF technology. The shallow heating effects of Bipolar RF presents a lesser risk for overheating the deeper tissues which may result in subsequent loss of facial fat, a side-effect observed with the use of Monopolar RF devices. Conversely, Bipolar RF is less effective where deep tissue heating may be desirable as in the case of cellulite reduction and body sculpting. Typically a single Bipolar RF treatment produces less noticeable results than a single Monopolar RF treatment. The skin tightening and body sculpting effects produced with Bipolar RF are rather cumulative and often require a series of treatments to achieve the desired results and aesthetic benefits. Bipolar RF works best when combined with another energy source such as a laser diode which acts synergistically with RF energy to help achieve better dermal remodeling and skin rejuvenation results.
Tripolar Radiofrequency
Tripolar Radiofrequency focuses the RF energy right where it is needed requiring much lower energy output than Monopolar or Bipolar RF technologies, thus avoiding the associated pain and downtime for the client. Unlike Monopolar and Bipolar RF energies, Tripolar RF technology applies sophisticated algorithms to control the treatment electrodes by varying the current and polarity to achieve variable energy focus in different fat layers resulting in visible clinical aesthetics from the very first treatment. Tripolar RF technology directs energy selectively to fat tissue avoiding unecessary heating to the surface tissues and achieving better clinical results without the undesirable side effects associated with Monopolar RF and, to a lesser degree Bipolar RF treatments. Tripolar RF offers advanced configuration and sophisticated control algorithm which eliminate the need for a skin cooling device or other cooling applicators resulting in a more efficient skin tightning treatment and achieving better and quicker results without negative side effects. Aesthetic benefits generated by Tripolar RF treatments are cumulative and long lasting and can easily be achieved for all skin colors and body types. The number of treatment sessions needed for each client depends largely on the age group and skin quality of the client. The younger the client the fewer sessions are needed to achieve remarkable and lasting results. Clients with more pronounced wrinkles and skin sag require additional treatment sessions in order to achieve the same remarkable and lasting results. Tripolar RF treatments are safe and painless without the inconvenience of downtime for the client.
Ultrasonic Lipolysis
Technological advances in the field of non surgical cosmetology produced the innovative Ultrasonic Lipolysis treatment. Ultrasonic Lipolysis is designed to reduce the number of fat cells in targeted areas of the body without the need for surgery, hospitalization, or complications associated with surgical lipolysis and circumference reduction prodedures. Utrasonic Lipolysis is a painless treatment aimed at permanently removing excess cellular fat from targeted areas of the body painlessly and without the risks of negative side effects. It is a safe and viable alternative to remove cellular fat deposits on the abdomen, inner and outer thighs, arms and legs. Ultrasonic Lipolysis is 100% non-invasive and does not require incisions, injections or medication. The unique pairing of Ultrasonic Lipolysis with Bio-vacumm in 1 one handpiece probe enhances blood circulation and improve the body’s ability to efficiently metabolize cellular fat. Bio-vacuum provides many of the biological benefits associated with a professional massage providing a feeling of well being and relaxation.
IMPORTANT
Ultrasonic lipolysis handpieces are not to be used on the face or on the backside of the client. How does it work?
Ultrasonic Lipolysis is a cutting edge technology based on the use of a transducer (a handle probe that converts electrical energy into ultrasonic energy) over the targeted area delivering short pulses of focused ultrasonic energy into the subcutaneous fat cells. Ultrasonic pulses disrupt the outer membrane of fat cells forcing the release of their content without impacting blood vessels, nerves or other connective tissue and without damaging the overlaying skin surface.
Ultrasonic Lipolysis treatment sessions take between ¾ and 1½ hours each depending on the area being treated. Clients can safely resume their daily activities immediately after undergoing Ultrasonic Lipolysis treatment.
What happens to the targeted fat?
Ultrasonic Lipolysis targets fat cells exclusively causing their content, known as triglycerides to be dispersed into the fluid between the cells. Triglycerides are then transported through the vascular and lymphatic systems to be metabolized by the body’s own natural biological mechanisms. For best result patients should add granulated Lecithin to their daily diet.
Ultrasonic Lipolysis Treatment results:
Aesthetic results produced by Ultrasonic Lipolysis are seen gradually over a number of weeks after treatment as the body clears itself of triglycerides and toxins released by the treatment. An average circumference loss of 2cm to 3cm (1 inch) after a single treatment session is typical. Results achieved with Ultrasonic Lipolysis procedure can be permanent when coupled with a sensible diet and moderate exercise to maintain aesthetic gains produced by the treatment. The number of treatments needed for optimum fat loss and circumference reduction is best recommended by practitioners depending on the amount of cellular fat reduction desired by their client and on the size of the area in need of treatment.
Side effects and risks
There are very few documented side effects related to Ultrasonic Lipolysis treatment. Bruising is considered to be rare and when it does occur it is usually mild. Some redness and slight swelling may occur for a short period of time following treatment. A rare possible side effect would be the appearance of blisters in the treated area which should heal within a day or two.
